Workplace Health & Personal Safety
Professional job execution requires strict adherence to workplace safety standards. Please wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during all fabrication and cutting stages:
Sturdy Safety Footwear
Steel-toe work shoes
Cut-Resistant Gloves
Handling extruded profiles
Safety Goggles
Protection against metal shavings
Hearing Protection
When operating miter saws
Required Standard Hand & Power Tools
- Miter Saw / Circular Saw: Equipped with a carbide-tipped negative-rake blade formulated specifically for non-ferrous metals.
- Cordless Drill / Screwdriver: With magnetic bit holder and Torx TX20 bits for stainless steel fasteners.
- Rubber Mallet: Non-marking white rubber mallet for snapping the Safe-Clickâ„¢ locking flange smoothly into place.
- Spirit Level & Measuring Tape: To verify uniform substructure alignment and minimum 1.5% drainage slope.
- Cordless Vacuum or Hand Broom: To remove all aluminium filings from the decking surface immediately after cutting.
Substructure Engineering & Joist Spacing
The sub-frame must provide an unyielding, structurally sound base aligned perpendicular to the decking direction:
AVA Profile S (13 mm)
Maximum center-to-center joist span: 500 mm (0.50 m). For high public commercial loads, reduce spacing to 400 mm.
Minimum Drainage Slope: 1.5%
AVA Profile L (40 mm)
Maximum center-to-center joist span: 800 mm (0.80 m). High section modulus withstands 5.0 kN/m² without deflection.
Minimum Drainage Slope: 1.5%
Step-by-Step Assembly Procedure
Affix elastomeric compression tape along the top surface of all substructure beams to provide acoustic impact deadening and galvanic separation.
Anchor the starter profile along the outer edge with stainless steel self-drilling fasteners. This creates the concealed receptor groove for the first decking plank.
Slide the front tongue into the starter profile. Fasten the integrated rear flange to each substructure joist using 2 screws per intersection.
Hook the next profile’s tongue into the previous profile’s receiver. Tap lightly with a non-marking rubber mallet along the joint until an audible click confirms hermetic engagement.
Clip the integrated drainage gutter kit onto the discharge edge and seal end caps with Otto Seal A250 adhesive. Attach frontal cover angle trims for clean perimeter aesthetics.
